Kharagpur Vision Academy was established with the objective of excelling in the field of Teacher Education. The goal of the College is to maintain academic integrity with high moral and ethical values. With the state of the art infrastructure and dedicated faculties, the College gives priority to holistic development of students as well as grooming them for social and ecological sensitivity. As most of the students are from the rural back ground the College takes special efforts for imparting qualitative education irrespective of gender. The Women Cell was formed as a mandated body as per the guidelines of University Grants Commission issued under Section3.2 (15) of UGC Guidelines (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of women employees and students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015.The motto of the cell is to educate, to enlighten and to empower with the well-being of the girl students.
The Women Cell of Kharagpur Vision Academy was created with the aim of empowering and orienting the women to recognize their own potential and achievement of one’s position in the competitive world. This Woman Cell is a platform of progress and open thinking for women. It is the strength of female students and addresses different perspectives on gender issues. The Women Cell ensures a dignified and congenial environment for the women employees including teaching, non-teaching, contractual workers and students where they can work, study and explore their full potential.
To mould potential women force in the campus for proceeding to the path of success.
To empower women in attaining physical, emotional and mental freedom in life.
To enhance the self-esteem and self-confidence of women students, faculty and staff of the College.
To develop critical thinking ability of women students for effective decision making ability.
To provide a platform for addressing the complaints.
To incorporate hygiene habits and ensure a healthy atmosphere in and around the campus.
To ensure personality development of the students along with academic progress.
To promote a culture of respect and equality for female persons.
To inculcate entrepreneurial attitude among young girls, so that they can be “job givers” rather than “job takers”.
The Women Protection Cell functions for the protection of the rights and any sorts of violence against them.
Newly admitted students are made aware during the orientation session about the scope of Women Cell.
The women teacher trainees and the female staff members are advised to put their problems in writing in the suggestion/complaint box or to discuss directly with the members of the Women Cell.
For any problem reported, the Women Cell takes appropriate steps to resolve the problem through their personal interaction with the complainants and if the matter is highly sensitive and severe in nature it is forwarded to the Principal’s Office.
Promoting gender awareness among students and employees.
Preventing discrimination and sexual harassment against the women.
To make recommendations to the Management for incorporating changes or elaborations in the rules or byelaws for the prohibition, resolution, settlement and prosecutions of acts of discrimination and sexual harassment against women by students and the staffs.
The Women Cell is empowered to punish the persons found guilty of violating the dignity of woman after due consultation with the Principal’s Office and approval from the Governing Body of the College. The nature of the punishment is as follows;
Information to the parents or guardian for the misconduct.
Verbal warning.
Issue of written warning letter with supportive evidences.
Financial punishment by withholding scholarships or financial benefits provided.
Information to Police for investigation and action depending upon the severity of incidence and legal issues.
Expelling from College as per the rules and norms of the affiliating University.
Arranging a session on self -defence for women.
Workshop on Gender Equality.
Lecture on value education.
Interactive discussions on women empowerment.
Appointing female counselors from lady faculty members for female students.
Periodical feedback taken from girl students regarding their safety and security measures within the campus.
Poster and drawing competition to address the issues of gender.
